In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

In my media product we used present time and past time to show this in the flashbacks we used saturated colour to make the scenes much darker and the present time scenes were filmed whilst it was very sunny and bright so this made a contrast of light this is an example of Levi strauss's theory on binary opposites other examples include the settings we used city and countryside and male and female main characters. Also the opening of my film follows todorov's narrative theory of establishing an equilibrium this is when our two main characters are in the centre of town leading their normal happy separate away from each other by doing everyday things such as going to work and college. The disruption occurs when the two main characters the oppositional male and female characters see each other in the centre of town. The character then has flashbacks in their minds of previous bad times that they shared with each other. Furthermore the opening contains mostly non-digetic sound which is a common code of an opening of a thriller film; we used a soundtrack to cover the whole of the opening two minutes. We challenged the usual codes of a thriller film with the usually the typical openings are quite dark and sinister our opening was fairly light hearted and slow paced but as the opening went on the pace increased and there were much darker shots such as a dead body and low angle shots of dark figures which suggest and number of different things like murder, danger and intimidation.
